The. Westport Jockey Club's Meeting was opened to-day in beautiful weather. There was a good attendance, and the totalisator handled £4693, compared with £5435 for the first day last year. Results:—

Trial Hack Handicap, of 60 soys; six furlongs and 80 yards.—Steepholm, 8.1, 1; Le Forte, 7.7, 2; Sunba.th, 7.13, 3. Also started: Lady Pallas, Redsome, Chaeronia, Preludium, War Unit, Bonash. Won by one and a-half lengths. Time, lmin 23 2-ssec.

Granity Handicap Trot, of 60 soys; one mile. —Bonnie Lad, 96yd3 behind, 1; Nent, 156 yds behind, 2; Foxglove, 36yds behind. 3. Scratched: Smithy Dillon, Grey Dawn, Tassy M. Won by a longneck. Time; 2min 24 l-ssec.
