PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Awahuri Dairy Company intends to send samples of its butter to the exhibition in London, which is to be held uudor the auspices of the Empire Mail; when many of the largest buyers will be present. Padre Walls is to bo asked to again conduct tho soldiers' memorial service at Palmorston North on Anzao Day. Mr. \V. N., Cooke has iesigned from the executive of the local branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, and' tho resignation has been accepted with regret. Tho New Zealand Watchmakers and Jewellers' Association has forwarded to the Borough Council £3 3s to purchase a seat on the Esplanade, and has expressed the appreciation of tho delegates to the recent conference in Palmorston of the efforts of Mayor and councillors to make their visit an enjoyable one. At the annual meeting of' the Old Boys Football Club, Mr. J. A. Nash, M P., was elected patron, and Mr. A. Hannay president. Other officers elected included the following:—Secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. Whitehead; committee,. Messrs. A. E. Fleming, A. Rose, J. Bramwell, M. S. Eglinton, and R. A. Brace; club captain, Mr. M. S. Eglinton; delegates to Rugby Union, Messrs. A. S. Faife, A. Hannay, and J. Deviue.
A deputation from the Woodville Football Club waited .-on the Manawatir Rugby Union with a. request that it bo allowed to play under that union during the coming season instead of under Dannevirke. It was decided that, provided tho Woodville players signed a, petition and obtained the consent of the authorities to play under tho Manawatu Union, the latter would be willing to accept thoir affiliation. The secretary of the Manawatu A. and P. Association has received word from tho Council of Agriculture that the Royal Show will not be held this year on account of the t,mall response received from breeders in tho matter of providing Jlio necessary finance.
