PALMERSTON N., This Day. A conference was held yesterday of the contributing bodies to the. Manawatu Gorge Road Board of Control for the purpose of considering i the proposal to raise a loan of £20,000 for effecting improvements' to the road. The scheme was unanimously approved, tho amount of money to be raised by each of the contributing bodies being as follows:—Palmerston North Borough Council, £4300; Kairanga County Council, . Pahiatua County Council, and Woodville County Council, £2000 each; Dannovirke Borough Council, Pahiatua Borough Council, Oroua County Council, and Woodville Borough Council, £1600 each; Feilding Borough Council, £1000; Dannevirke, Waipawa, and Rangitikei County Councils, £600 each. A resolution was passed calling on the Government to take over the road under the National Highways Bill. • At the annual meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the South African War Veterans' Association officers were elected as follow-.—President, Major J. T. Bosworth; vice-president, Captain G. W. Braddell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A.. T. Bendall; committee, Messrs. E. C. Gillanders, ■W. Wilson, F. Carpenter, E. Hoslock, and Captain W. H. Lambert.

The Post has been asked to state that the judgment, Thomson, Lewis, and Co., Ltd.; v. R. Ginsberg, appearing in. yesterday's issue in the list of judgments entered by default in the Magistrate's Court -yesterday, was entered in error, the amount claimed having been previously paid.
