(ABBTKAI,IAN-HBW 2EAIAND CASLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, Bth March.
Lords Salisbury, Carson, Finlay, Linltthgow, the Duke of Northumberland, Lord Sydeniham, Sir Frederick Banbury, Sir W. Joynson.-Hic.k.s, and other representative Tory Lords and Commoners have issued a manifesto justifying- tlieir opposition to the Coalition. They say: "The following principles are essential: Loyalty to the Throne, and tho restoration oi the efficiency. of the Second Chamber. It is the first duty of a civilised Government to protect lives, liberty, and property, and crime, such as arson, murder, and theft, committed for the promotion of political ends, must be resisted by the whole force of the' State. Excessive taxation and meddlesome regulations are alike mischievous. State interference and multiplication of-officials are a hindrance to r>ros»erity. Hasty grandiose schemes of so-called reconstruction are also objectionable. Without extending our national responsibilities, the country should fulfil the great duty of a firm, unselfish Government in territories such as India, which have long formed part of the Empire. Britain is beset with dangers, which, under the name of Socialism and Communism, threaten the existing social system.'' Dangers are also due to the vacillations and errors which defaced the public administration since the Armistice, and the usurpation by-the Executive Government of the'functions of Parliament."•
