A cablegram received since the abov» was written recorded that i Mr. Broc#3, on behalf of. the employers, stated that the proposals of the employees containing a clause for the socialisation of industry showed such a wide divergence of views between the parties that the employers did not propose to discuss them further, as nothing done at the confer-' ence could bridge the gulf between the workers' policy of destruction and the employers' policy of construction, The conference, which has apparently reached an impasse, then adjourned.
