ABORTIVE.
A cablegram received since the abov» was written recorded that i Mr. Broc#3, on behalf of. the employers, stated that the proposals of the employees containing a clause for the socialisation of industry showed such a wide divergence of views between the parties that the employers did not propose to discuss them further, as nothing done at the confer-' ence could bridge the gulf between the workers' policy of destruction and the employers' policy of construction, The conference, which has apparently reached an impasse, then adjourned.
Next day it was reported that the conference had ended abortively, Mr. Brooks further stating that the employers declined to associate themselves wjth any. proposals such as Labour submitted^
