COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS

(*Y TELEGRAPH.—PF.BSS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Bth March. The conference of the New Zealand Commercial Trayellera' Association had before it a suggestion, for the organisation of a campaign for a universal halfholiday, and it .was moved: "That the association take steps, to bring the matter before Parliament." SoW speakers suggested that the association could hardly presume to dictate to the people of New Zealand, and ah amendment that the motion !be adjourned for twelve months was carried. A letter was read from the New Zealand Manufacturers' Association requesting the association's support in the matter of securing protection for and advancing the sales of British and colonial-made goods. '.. - - Tile chairman expressed himself entirely in sympathy with the cause of the British manufacturers, and it was decided that a letter be sent declaring the association's sympathy with, the manufacturers' cause.
