MASTERTON, This Day. The ,Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister of Education, will visit the Wnirarapa on \Vednesday, the 29th. At 11 a.m. he will open'the .new school at Martinborough. After lunch he will visit the Carterton school, and then proceed to Masterton and confer with the Board of Governors of the Wairarapa High School.

The proposal to raise locally £7000 on debentures to enable the Board of Governors to proceed with a part of the proposed High School buildings, has been approved of by Cabinet. The debentures will be of £100 and £50, for either five or ten years, at 6 per cent. The accounts in connection with the Masterton A. ■ and. P. Association's Show, hold last month, show a loss of £226, including £103 amusement tax. The luncheon account showed a loss of f9O. The ram fair showed a profit of £34. •■

At a meeting of the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society, last 1 night, it was ' decided to produce the opera,

"Dorothy," this season. It was decided to affiliate with the Doininicm Federation of Amateur Operatic Societies.

Owing to rain yesterday, the Alfredton athletic sports were postponed. Messrs. The pupils of the Carterton Diitrict High School held their annual swimming sports in the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon. The secondary championship points were won by W. Hall, with P. Zellwood second. Among the girls, G. Wickens was first, -and J. Moncrieff second. Boys' primary, D. Nunn I, W. Lin'dop 2. Girls, M. Hawey 1, Master D. Nunn won Mr. L: JV Fairbrother's trophy for the best swimmer.
