A CARGO OF PHEASANTS
About ten'days ago the Acclimatisation Sooietysent, its ranger up to Dargaville, Northern Wairoa, to bring down to Wellington some pheasants purchased ifrom Mr. J. Dobson. Two hundred birds .vere brought down, and they have been distributed, amongst all the society's branches, and various people who have undertaken to breed a few pens for the society. All this work was carried out without the loss of a single bird. For this result; the society, sakl the secretory to. a Post reporter, this morning, was _ indebted ■ very largely to the railway officials, who showed the greatest consideration for fcne ranger and his valuable cargo. Mr. Dobson had turned out a firat«)lass lot of birds.
