WAGES REDUCTION

MELBOURNE, 7th Marc*. - The Australian Merchant Service Guild has sent a letter to the Commonwealth steamship owners, stating that in no circumstances will the guild accept a reduction in wages, and suggesting a conference between owners and the guild.
[The Commonwealth steamship owners are seeking a redaction iff wages for seamen, stewards, and firemen, based on the decreased cost of living.]
