STRANDED VALMARIE
CARGO TO BE DISCHARGED
It has been decided" to lighten the schooner Valmarie before another attempt is made to work her off Farewell Spit. The auxiliary scow Kohi was expucted to begin taking off the schooner's cargo of hardwood this morning, under the supervision of Mr. J. Currie, of Wellington, and will remove about 150 tons of timber. With that quantity of timber out of the vessel, it ia anticipated that she can be kedged off the spit on the next spring tide. Working recently with kedge anchors, the Valmarie was shifted about 80 feet seawards. She has still about 400 feet to traverse before reaching deep water. •
