Mr. E. G. Bush, New Zealand manager for the United States Rubber Company (Australasia), Ltd., left on a visit to Australia by the Manuka yesterday.

Application for admission as solicitors of the Supreme Court were granted by Mr. Justice Hosking to-day, as follow: — Richard R. Scott, Cecil E. Leys, F. E. M'Donald, W. P. Shorland, W. P. Coles, and D. L. Taverner.

Mr. C. P. Powles (first president), Mr. D. T. Stuart (second president), both octogenarians, were accorded hearty votes of appreciation by the Wellington Accountant Students' Society., at the annual meeting last night.

Mr. L. U. Chaffey, of the staff of the National Mutual Life Association, received a presentation yesterday from his fellow-officers in recognition of his approaching marriage, Mr. Nicholson, the manager, expressed the good wishes of the staff, and Mr. Chaffey replied in appropriate manner.

The-Hon. E. P. Lee (Minister of Justice) has left. for Auckland. While in Auckland he will "make an inspection with officers of the Justice Department of the local Supreme Court Buildings with a view to providing additional accommodation to meet the increased requirements of the Courts. The Minister will subsequently go on to Whakatane, Opotiki, Gisborne, and the East Coast on business connected -with the departments under his supervision,

I\ Allen,.secretary .of the Wellington Industrial Association and retm ing secrtary of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand, received many compliments during the recent' conference for- his long term of active service on behalf of the Dominion's" 'industries.' In a special reference to Mr.. Allen last evening, "Air. J. Dearsley, an Auckland delegate, remarked that the ■'■Wellington secretary had well earned the' title of "Father of Industrialism." in .New Zealand.
