COMPETTTION IN BUTTER.
;;' Cable inference to the advantage over ■New Zealand butter possessed by Danish / butter on account of proximity to the English market was mentioned in the House of Bepresentativee by Mr. W. H. i Field (Otaki) yesterday. He asked the 'Prime Minister whether the Government ■would co-operate with the Dairy Association in an effort to assure regular sup- ' plies. > .■„■ The Prune Minister agreed that it was ''essential that every effort should be ;. made to see that this very important ': article was properly ' marketed. There ■ ''. was at present on foot a mpvemp.nt in -that direction, and in this movement the -[representatives of the different overseas 4 Dominions were acting in concert. The ■Government had expressed approval of • what the High Commissioner was doing :;to let the people of the United Kingdom iknow that .the New Zealand butter was I little, if at all,' inferior to the Danish. 1 Danish butter had, of course, the great .advantage of being able to be marketed within a day or so of production. The Government had given the High Com- . missioner permission to spend a certain :; «urn in advertising. ,
