ANNUAL PICNICS
LEVER BROS., LTD,
The firm of Lever Bros. (N.Z.), Ltd., held their third annual picnic at Maidstone Park on Saturday, a party of about 160 spending a most enjoyable day. Among those present, wero: The managing director (Mr. 0. C. Hebb) and, Mrs. Hebb, the secretary (Mr. W. H. Trevan), the works manager (Mr. P. J. S. Truscott),' Mr. and Mrs. S. .7. Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. W., S. Gillbanks. A varied programme of sports was arranged, the successful competitors being as follow: —Girls'.race hinder six years): Nancy Merrilees, 1; Violet Williams, 2. Boys' race (under ten years): Jack Scotson, 1; W. Stoltz, .2. Girls' race .(under 12.years): Phyllis Buckingham, 1; Marjorie Hunt, 2. Boys' race (under 12 years): Jack Verrall, 1; Henry May, 2. -Tie and cigarette race: Miss A. Lindegreen, 1; Miss Smith, 2. Staff boys' race (under 17 years):. A. .Foot, 1; A. Te Pnni, /2. Married ladies' rate: Mrs. Henderson, 1; Mrs. Gilchrist, 2. Relay race: Won by office (Messrs. S. Shaw, D. Wilson, L. Clark, and C. H. Fyffe). Tail-less donkey: 'Mrs. Williams, 1. Hairdressing com-, petition: A. Foot, 1; D. Wilson, 2. Jelly race: Mrs. Webley and D. Williams, 1. Men's race (100 yds): D. Williams, 1; H. M'llvride, 2. Bun fight: D. Williams. 1; G. Cloake, 2. Potato race: Miss E. Currari, 1; Miss F. Bishop, 2. Staff ladies' race: Miss Robinson, 1; Miss Smith, 2. Blindfold boxing; A. Foot, 1; D. Williams, 2. Egg and spoon race: Miss D. Wright, 1; A. Lindegreen, 2. Staff girls' race (under 17 years): 51. Merrileea, 1; Joyce Wright, 2. i Sack race: S. Shaw, 1; T. Love, 2. Three-legged race: Miss L. Wornall and J. Ryan, 1; Miss E. Curran -and A. Foot, 2. At the conclusion of the day the presentation of prizes was carried out by Mrs. S. J. Wilson.
