' ' Three first offending, inebriates were dealt with by Mr. 3?. K. Hunt, S.M., who presided at to-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. j Margaret Sullivan was fined 5s for drunkenness (a first offence), and 10s for a breach of her prohibition order. .'■ Thomas Haraop, who had one previous conviction against him, was fined 10s, in default 48 hours in gaol. /Archibald M'Naughton was fined £1, iff default-three days-in gaol, for drunkenness, arid was sentenced to a month's imprisonment with, hard labour on a charge'of ■ being an idle and disorderly person,-having no visible means of sup-? port. ' Against Alfred Henry Bowers!, for whom Mr. J. O'Donovan appeared, there was a charge of having committeed theft cf a quantity of motor-car material, valued at £15 2s 3d, the property of the Colonial Motor Company. A remand was granted, until 10th February, and bail •was allowed in the sum' of £50. ■ Mr}-W. A. Worth, J.P., sat at" the Mount Cook Police 'Court to-day. One first-offending • inebriate, who failed to appear, was fined 10s, the amount of hisbail. . ■- . MAINTENANCE CASES. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., dealt with the. following maintenance cases yesterday afternoon. ■ John J. H. Chapman, who had allowed his arrears An" respect, to a maintenance order to amount to £46 2s, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. '.'.. With arrears amounting to £22 16s, George Ireland- was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, the warrant to Jhs suspended so long as lie pays 15s |fcer week. • If William Slattery does not pay the jjam of 15a per week each week on arrears totalling £9 Is, ho will have to go to gaol for a month. ; Duncan Kleeber was ordered to pay per week towards the maintenance of his wife. :.. An order to contribute 15s per week towards' the support of Matilda Evans was made against Thomas U. Evans. . Janet Kirkwood was granted a separation from her husband, A..G. Kirkwood, who was ordered to pay maintenance at the rate of 26s per week. I
A first offender for drunkenness who appeared before Mr. W. N. Dempsey, J.P., at Lower Hutt this morning-, was fined ss, in default 2+ hours' imprisonment. A young man named C. G-. Pilc'fier was charged at Petone, before Mr. A. Anderson, J.P., with assaulting a. foreman- at- the Gear Meat Company's works. He was remanded until to-mor-row. ,
