The Earl of Cavan will succeed FieldMarshal- Sir Henry Wilson as Chief of the Imperial General Staff in February.

[The Earl of Cavan served in the South African war in 1901 and was mentioned in despatches. In the great Euro-* pean War he served from 1914 to 1918, during which period he commanded the 14th Corps of the British Expeditionary Force, a brigade of Guards, and subsequently a Guards Division, being mentioned in despatches seven times. He was in charge of tho operations of the Tenth Army on the Ptave front in 1918. Sir Henry Wilson has been Chief of the Imperial General Staff' since 1918, and was promoted to Field Marshal in 1919.]
