At tho "break-up" ceremony at Island Bay School, the Chairman (Mr. J. 0. Shorland) and the Mayor (Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P.) addressed the children. Attendance and proficiency certificates, and prizes for the highest marks in ola3s during the year were then presented by the Mayoress (Mrs. Wright). Tlie following received prizes:— St. Vl.—Girls: Marjorie Atkinson 1, Nellie Hesketh 2. Boys: Ronald Clarke 1, Fred Green 2. Highest marks in proficiency examination: Mdjorio Atkinson and Eric Parsons (equal). Special prize for excellence: Jean Bruce.
