Rain fell throughout training operations at Ellerslie this morning. The course got heavier as the morning advanced. All work was done on the outside of the course proper.

Winning Hit galloped six furlongs in lmin 20sec. Miss Mimic and Whipping Boy did the same task in lmin 21sec. Fulsome finished better than Epitaph at the end of five furlongs in lmin 5 4-sseo. Sasanof, with the assistance of Radiant Light over the last seven furlongs, covered a round in 2min 4 4-ssec. Thespiin went four furlongs in 54 4-ssec Stailand, Insurrection, Malaga, and Royal Star finished in that order at the end of a mile and a-half in 2min 49sec, She lastnamed taking 2min 54 1-Ssec. Listowel galloped four furlongs in 51 l-ssec. Farceur was better than Pluto over five furlongs in lmin Bsec. Hyrax waa in front of Truthful at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 34sec. Big Chief galloped six furlongs in lmin 21 3-ssec, and Huruwai four in 52s«c. Absurdum went five furlongs from the new post in lmin 4seo, and Rational took a second longer. Explorer galloped six furlongs in lmin 19 4-ssec. Gloaming gave Vespucci a start and beat him at the end of six furlongs in lmin 20 2-ssec. Egotism did the same task in lmin 20sec. Mustard Pot and Humboldt were together at the end of six furlongs in lmin 20sec. Lovematch, with the assistance of Zircon over the last seven furlongs, beat Sunray over a mile and a-quarter in 2min 17 l-ssec. Archie, Illumination, and Marble Slab finished in that order at the end of six furlongs in lmin 20sec. The Hawk, with the assistance of Cypher over the last four furlongs, covered six furlongs in lmin 17sec, the fastest gallop of the morning. Hula Girl beat Moorland and Sundaur over four furlongs in 52sec. Crosswords gal]oped a mile trom the new post in lmin 49-J,-sec. Pavo, Cool Stimulant, and Anomaly were in that order at the end of six furlongs in lmin 18 2-ssec. Mountain Lion and Refinement were together, with Shebang and Lady Lois following, after a five-furlong gallop from the new post, in lmin ssec. Golden Bubble did the same journey in lmin 6sec. Landslide was better than Sylvan over six furlongs in lmin •19sec. Silver Link galloped five furlongs in lmin 5 4-ssec. After breakfast the rain cleared. ; Perfect Day and Royal Blood covered six furlongs in lmin 19 4-ssec. Mangamahoe was too good for Persian King over a mile and a-half in 2min 49 l-ssec. A big lot of others also worked.

In addition to the train arrangements for the Manawatu- races as given in last night's issue, it is announced that on the 29th December (Thursday) no specials will run, but the 7.40 a.m. (relief Wanganui), 8.20 (New Plymouth maU), and 9.10 (Napior mail) will set down and pick up passengers at Awapuni.
