WELLINGTON BAND CONTEST

A meeting of tho Band Contest Committee was held last evening, Mr. H, D. Bennett presiding. It was mentioned that the band entries totalled '40, which is a reoord for the Dominion. The North Island Band's Association wrote stating that Mr. Harry Shugg, of Melbourne, had boon appointed adjudicator of tho contest. The scoretary stated that the solo entries totalled 394, and tho sorvices of an extra judge would be requiredl to adjudicate tho solo?. It was resolved that the mutter bo lsft in the hands of tho chairman and secretary. The progr&mmo committee was requested to mako provision for holding a- garden party if time permits, arrangements to be left over until next meeting. The association wrote stating that the teefc music had been issuotl to the competing bands. It was resolved to request tho Railway Department to make excursion fares availablo to visiting bandsmen.
