THE ZOO BILL.
Good progress was made by the House of Representatives with local Bills until it came to the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill, which proposes to allow the Wellington City Council to charge for admission to the Zoo on Sunday. Sir George Hunter (Waipawa) said the Local Bills Committee had unanimously recommended that the Bill should not be allowed to proceed. It wag a dangeroua measure. Mr. P. Fraser (Wellington Central) also opposed the measure, and suggested that it should be allowed to stand over in the meantime. Mr. R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs), who had charge of the Bill, said ho wished to consult the City Council further, and he agreed to the adjournment of the second reading till "next tutting day." j
