DEATH DUTIES.

Further amendments to the Death Duties Bill, introduced yesterday by Governor-General's Message, were agreed to by both Houses of Parliament. To the ctase making the gift duty retrospective to the passing- of the 1920 Act there has • been added a proviso that reassessment shall be made, and the eift'duty, or increment of duty. if aty, shall become payable on the expiratton of one month after the giving of notice to the donor. The other amendment is in the clause which prescribes a penalty for anyone failing to notify the making of a gift of £100, or over. The amount has been raised by the amendment to £300.
