EXODUS BY STEAMERS.

Although the various passenger Bteamers' leaving Wellington during ttffe past few days have been well filled, the numbers travelling have not been such as to indicate record returns for the shipping companies.. The passenger clerks at the Union Company's office have been kept fairly busy, and all available accommodation on the Lyttelton ferry steamers for to-night and following nights up to Christmas Eve is booked. It is significant, however, that the -company has not deemed it necessary to provide any extra steamer for the service. The small steamer Wakatu, which has accomodation for some 20 passengers, is leaving for Lyttelton and Kaikoura tomorrow night, and already there has been a brisk demand for berths. Steamers engaged in the Picton and Nelson services are also fully booked.
