A dispute between Margaret Eliza Jones, pianiste, and the management of Shortt's Theatre, Ltd., previously referred to Mr. E. Page, S.M., was argued Out before his Honour Mr. Justice Hosking at the Supreme Court last week, following the lodging of an appeal by tho company against the decision of the Magistrate. Mrs. Jones had been engaged during two periods in 1920 and the early part of the present year as a caaual_ or substitute pianiste, but waa not satisfied that she had been paid tha full rates to which she waa entitled. Accordingly she took action against the company to recover the balance claimed, £40 12s Bd. Judgment was given by the Magistrate for plaintiff for £25 17a 6d, but the company hold that the decision waa erroneous in law, its case being chiefly based on certain of the provisions of the Arbitration Court's awards to employees at picturo theatres. Messrs. A. Gray, K.C., and R. Kennedy appeared for,the appellant company, and Mr., C. A. L. Treadwell for the respondent. Judgment was reserved.
