EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Eastbourne Council met last week, the Mayor (Mr. F. H. Mather) presiding. The- Mayor's action in arranging with the 'bus contractor in regard to the annual subsidy was approved. A donation of one guinea was voted to the St. John Ambulance Association. It was decided to restrict the taking of sand and shin^Je from the beach for building and other,purposes. The Mayor pointed out that the oouncil must bo careful not to hamper its works on the beach front in the form of an esplanade. A special sub-committee was appointed to report on the building of municipal tennis courts, and the beautifying of other parts of the borough.
