CIVIC AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held last night, when there were present the Mayor (Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P:), and Councillors W. J. Thompson, W. H. Bennett, W. J. Gaudin, H. D. Bennett, T. Forsyth, L. M'Kenzie, M. F. Luckie, B. G. H. Burn, J. M. Dale, S. H. Underwood, J. Burns, C. H. Chapman, P. Fraser, U.V., C. J. B. Norwood, and Mve. A. M'Vicar. The request of the Hataitai Ladies' Croquet Club for a reduction in the charge for the use of croquet courts was not acceded 'to.
The Wadestown Cottage Garden and Beautifying Society is to be informed that, owing to lack of funds, ita request for the formation of a rock garden at the tram terminus, Weld-street, could not be acceded to at present.
