PERTH, This Day. In connection with the fatal aeroplane accident when establishing the aerial mail service, Major Brearley suggests that Fawcett endeavoured to land on tricky ground, surrounded by tall gum trees. The machine stalled and spun at a height too low for recovery.

MELBOURNE, This Day. The Acting-Minister of Defence (Colonel Ryrie) explains that the aerial disaster in West Australia was not due to faulty landing places, as two other machines had already landed safely.
