THE CEMENT PAMPHLET
MINISTER EXPLAINS ISSUE.
' The Minister of Industries and Cbm- j roerce was asked by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. T. M. Wilfwdi) recently, "wliethe" he was awaa-e that a j .pampMet had been circulated among members of Parliament containing, part of the evidenoe given by the President of tho Board of Trade before the Ctaent Commission, which pamphlet omits the whole o£ tho oi-oss-examinationi of the president when giving euch evidence j and whether he did not consider such a procedure is contrary to all precedent, considering no report had been made to the House of the. finding of tile Commission; and whether he does not think that "such .a procedure _ places the member for Stratford at a-disadvantage by creating- a prejudice through the circulation of a one-aided statement?" In-a«note to his question, Mr. Wilford said, the pamphlet was printed at the Government Printing Office. The Minister replied yesterday : "Inquiries show that a copy of the pamphlet containing the statement made by : the chairman of the Board of Trade was addressed to each member of the Legislature, as had been done with other publications issued by the Board of Trade. Th« report of *h« Commission was in the hande of the Government prior to the i*su« of the statement. It le not considered that the honourable member for Stratford has been pkoed at any disadvantage, seem g that' the statement was made on oath, and. that it h«fl, in abbreviated form, been published by the aewspaper pTess of the Dominion." ,
