(Received October 8, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, '7th October. The State Department says that the Government is gratified that the British Dominions will be represented at the Washington Conference It is' stated that the American Government has tried throughout the negotiations to make It possible for the British Dominions to be represented.' The United States oould not directly suggest.to tie British Government that the Dominions should he represented, because the question is no official concern of this country; but the American Government did suggest that' Britain's delegation should number five to seven, with the view of allowing sufficient room for Dominion representation. The State. Department denies that America slammed the door against Australian or other Pacific Dominions' represent tation, as Mr. W. M. Hughes is said as have charged it with doing.
