A PLOT THAT FAILED
MOVEMENT FORESTALLED AT LISBON

The Times correspondent at Lisbon states that a revolutionary plot was discovered, and failed at the eleventh hour. The movement had long been in preparation, and aimed at uniting the military and civil elements of a discontented) Government, principally among the . Republican extremists and the political groups who failed to secure Parliamentary representation. It was planned to start on tho morning of Ist' October. The Premier, meanwhile, had been informed, and he employed loyal troops, and forestalled the movement. Some of those implicated fled, and othei'B were arrested. Order prevails in Lisbon and elsewhere. The Government in an official Note states that it knew the movement wa« being prepared, nttd took the necessary, measures of defence. Those responsible will be brought to justice.
