WATERSIDE WORKERS' BAND.
The.concert given at the Grand Opera House last evening by the Waterside' Workers' Band was highly successful. The house was quickly filled, and the jentertainment was thoroughly appreciated. ■ The band opened the concert with the hymn " Lead, Kindly Light " and the overture Caliph of Bagdad " ■(Boieldieii). Other "band items were the 'selection "Maritana," <the fantasia "The Bells of Abefdovey " (Rimmer), and the march "Palmer House " (Pe'ttee). They were, excellent performances, for which the audience showed full appreciation. Mr. Jules Jordan, of the "Welcome Stranger" Company, contributed a highly-entertaining monologue, ■"A Travelling Salesman," and, being recalled, added " I Wish You Adieu." Mi. Harry Moschini sang " Lolita" (Buzzi Peccia), and for.an encore gave the striking song " Waiata , Maori." Miss Myra Sawyer sang "Poor, Wandering One," from " The Pirates of Penzance," with such good effect that she was encored, and responded to the recall with "Annie Lanrie. Mr. Ernest Jones sang " Di Provenza " (Verdi) and the ever-popular " Invictus." Mr!' F. p E. Crowther played the accompani-1 ments. . ... ' '•"-• ;
