The Lyall Bay Bowling Club's season opened in the presence of ovpr?2oo visitor^l and a great many ladies. ' In declaring the greens, open- for play, ithe .president; Mr. J. PeaTs, pointed out that during the; winter recess extensive alterations had been carried out to the pavilion, which made-the building more commodious and more adequate for the growing.needs of ithe members. ■ / Mrs. Pears, wife' of the president, threw the first "jack," and the member for the district, Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., sent down the first bowl. After noon tea was served by the members' wives, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent in informal play. The ladies' croquet club season was also declared open by the president, Mrs. < Stamford. ■ > ■■ /'
