All soccer enthusiasts will be pleased to see that M'Kenzie is to have a place in the Wellington' team. Jones .will, not be able to play on account of an.injury, and his place is to be filled by Eowlands, another Thistle man. The Northern team, which is considered one of the strongest that has yet represented Auckland, will play Manawatu at Palmerston on Wednesday, and will' arrive here on Thursday. It is in the charge of Messrs. J. Ball and G. ■W. Bagrie as managers. An old interprovincial player, Mr; F. M. Ritchie, is travelling with the team, and will act as linesman.
The Wellington-Auckland match is rightly looked on;/as the big match of the season, and it is to be hoped that the weather will be more kindly foi: thitf? match than it, has been when the teams have' met in many past seasons. More than once the match has been played, as it were, on a skating rink. In a sense a wet field is in Wellington's favour, but a dry field will make for a finer game. Marist and Institute thirds, which aie ; the leading teams in their competition; will play a curtain-raiser, and the Aotea Ladies' Club will also put a couplle of teams on the ground. | This will berthe first occasion when the Aotea girls have appeared before the public in any but minor practice matches, and their game should be a big draw apart from the representative match to follow.
