LONDON MARKET IN JULY.
The Grocer (London), reporting on Ist Jiily, stated that the bntter market was without material change, and 'the prolonged drought gives aerious concern, to producers. The London market is only kept in check by the v excessive supplies still arriving from the Colonies; stocks are abnormally large. With the settlement of the coal strike it will be interesting to watch the effect upon the market., At present best bntter moves slowly, but the'lower-priced descriptions 6ell well. On the same date the Grocer reported: "Canadian cheese in active request at higher prices—white !lO6s to 110s, coloured 104s to 106s. C.i.f. rates are again higher, and it would seem as though Montreal shippers are holding their offers back. Belleville, Brockville 112s per cwt. Quebecs and townships 110s to Ills, c.i.f. ■ With the settlement of the coal strike, labour conditions should improve, and the consumptive demand for cheese is expected to further increase and prices advance. New Sealand cheese has' been freely dealt in ait hardening prices."
