(KtiTK Ht«SS ASSOCIATMN.— COPTRIBIT.)
(AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZBALAND CAILB ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, 26th August. The Chicago Tribune's Tokio correspondent says that Japanese press comment lon Japan's acceptance of the invitation to the Washington Conference varies. The Yokumin says tho Note is marke* by insincerity, through the undeserved compliments paid to America, and adds, "How can America be justified in interfering in Far Eastern questions 7 It is just as absurd for America to interfere in the Orient as it would be for Japan to drag the Mexican problem or British or South American questions before the Conference." Tho Hochi Shimbun says the presence at the Conference of Senator Lodge, who has never failed to seize an opportunity to harass Japan, is^ the only cloud on the horizon. The Jiji Shimpo says the acceptance is so satisfactory that it may justly stand as the exprtession of the hopes of the Japanese nation.
