LODGE MEETINGS
. Zealandia, • Lodge, No. 48, 1.0.0. F., held a brief meeting at; St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, on 'Thursday evening. Bro. F. Oldham presided. Tv(o candidates were nominated. Afterwards the lodge entertained members of the (Rebecca, Southern Cross, and Cleveland Lodges and friends at a "novel" dance. Prizes for best characters were awarded on the vote of those present to Miss Robinson (" Chu Chin Chow"), Miss Ward"("Maori Maid"), and Mr. Mailey (" Mephistopheles "), Songs were given by Mrs. Dixon and Bro. Rikiana, a Maori lullaby by Miss. Grace and Bro. Rikiana. Miss Beadmore was pianist. Recitations were also given by Misses Robinson and Bailey, and Bros. Rikiana, Hardham, and Christeson. The Zealandia haka team under Bro. Rikiana performed two Maori hakas. '
A very successful "social" was held ■this week, in.. the Rschabite H.all. The Maranui Gleo Club, under the conductorship of Mr. Howe, gave a number of glees in excellent style, interspersed with solos and recitations. Miss Hobman presided at the pia.no. Captain T. J. Davis acted as M.C. Brother Rev. F. T. Bead briefly addressed the gathering. Emblems of the Order framed were presented to Past Chief 'Rulers R. A. Ferguson, A. M'Gregor, R. Burton, and R. E. Reay. Sisters, Lodge and Little provided re- : freshments. . • '
