The Japanese Note accepting the invitation to the Disarmament' Conference has been received. It expresses pleasure at President Harding's initiative, and declares that the peace'and welfare of the world have long been a chronic subject for solicitude. ■ The Japanese Government and people alike welcome the idea of limitation of armaments, and are sympathetic to the suggestion for control of the use of novel agencies of ■war. The arrival at general principles and their applications ;>l the Conferences is regarded as of Great value and importance. The Note adds : "The Government would emphasise the pre-emi-nently vital interest Japan has in the ■preservation of peace in the Pacific and the Far East. Japan accepts the agenda, proposal in harmony with Japan's suggestions contained in the informal acceptance of the Conference,"
