The prospect of seeing produced nine of the great plays of Shakespeare by a company; widelyj acknowledged to be of the highest order, is such as should rouse the keenest interest by the Wellington public. Commencing on Monday next at the. Opera House the Allan Wijkie season will open with "Halmlet," with Mr. Allan Wilkie as the Prince of Denmark, and Miss Hunter-Watts as Ophelia. This sublime tragedy has never failed to' fill the theatre in any town where Mr. Wilkie has played it, and in each capita} city of Australia, in addition to many highly-distinguished people, the Governor of the State has been present. Following plays for the first week are "The Merry Wives of Windsor, ' "Twelfth Night," l "The Merchant of Venice." "Macbeth," and "The Merry Wives of Windsor" again.
