SWIMMING

DATES OF NEW ZEALAND CHAM-

PIONSHIPS.

Matters in connection with the coming swimming season are now engaging the attention of officials, and it is reported that there is every prospect of a big programme. This will include the New Zealand National Swimming Championships, and the decision of these important events in Wellington should go a long way towards making the season one of the most successful locally for many years. Advice has been received by the secretary that the dates for the championship' have been fixed for the 4th, 6t"h. Bth. and 11th February. At the last Now Zealand Conference in Dunedin the allocation of the championships was discussed, and when a vote was taken on tho matter Wellington ond Napier were equally favoured. The final decision was thereupon left to tho Now Zealand Council, and this body decided in favour of Wellington.
