SOUTH AUCKLAND DEFEAT WEL-
LINGTON,
(HI. IBLBGIiAFH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HAMILTON, 3rd August. The rejn'eseiitative match between Wellington and South Auckland was played to-day. A high wind was in evidence, and favoured Wellington at the outset. In the first half the visitors had the principal portion of the attack, and Balks, full-back, who played a sound game until He was injured near the close of the, match, dropped a fine field goal. A South Auckland attack, in which S. J. Wilson and M'Millan were prominent, ended in the. latter scoring near the close of the first half. Playing with the wind in the second spell, South Auckland did most of the pressing, but their passing was not as nippy, as that of the .visitors, for whom Nicholls, a fast five-eighth, played a sound game both in attack and defence: Wilson and Meehan scored tries in the second, half for the home team, both, being converted by Dufty. Wellington made-several dangerous attacks, but failed to add to their score.
