(BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL TO THE POST.)
PALMERSTON N., 2nd August. At the meeting of the, Manawatu Rugby Union last night, the referee in the junior match last Saturday between High School and Kairanga reported that shortly after half-time the' latter team •left the field in a body. After consideration, it was .decided that Fenton, the captain of the Kairanga team, be disqualified ,for life, and that consideration of the action of the rest of the team be deferred until their explanation has been heard. TROUBLE ABOUT A GROUND. It was stated at the meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Union last night that the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association was demanding 25 per cent, of the gate takings in the match with the Springboks. The Chairman said that as the New Zealand Union was taking 80 per cent, of the gate money, and the local union had to run the match and ■ entertain the visiting team, it meant \that if the association insisted upon its demands the match would have to be. played at Feilding. A deputation was sippointed to wait upon the committee of the A. and P. Association regarding the matter.
