SINN FEIN SILENT
PROLONGED DELIBERATION
(AUR&AUAN • HIW ZEALAND CAILI AJEOCIATtOM.} LONDON, 2nd August.
There are some misgivings over the prolonged deliberations of Mr. de Valera's Cabinet on Mr. Lloyd George's proposals. It was hoped the Dail Eire, ann would be summoned this week to deal with the scheme, but this now appears to be unlikely, The utmost secrecy prevails over events in Dublin. Undoubtedly the British proposals entailed some communications between Mr. de Valera and the Ulster political forces before a basis for an Irish Federal Constitution could be drafted. Possibly the absence of such conversations is accountable for the delay, or on the other hand Mr. de Valera may have found difficulty in composing the divergencies between the moderates and extremists with the Sinn Fein movement, especially in regai'd to dropping republican aspirations, for allegiance to the Crown.
