The proposal to revive the old-time road, race is being kept in view by local athletic, officials, and, although no date hafi been definitely suggested, it is probable that efforts will be made to holdthe "event afcont the end of September. One course which has been consicbered is from Te Aro Baths to.'the, Patent Slip, n-nd back, but it is thought by some enthusiasts that a round course—such aa from ConstaMe-street to the Basin Reservo, via MaTanui and Island Bay— would be more suitable. Mr. W. H. Bennett has donated a trophy, to he Irnown as the Bemetfc Memorial Shield, for the race.
. A sea-tank constructed by the French Government has been tested at Marseilles. Fitted with caterpillar tractors and a screw, it carried its inventor, M. Foenquines, and five passengers oveT land and water.
A reunion of old hoys of the Auckland Grammar School will be held at Dusin's, Cuba-street, to-morrow night, when the Hon. 0. .T. Parr, Minister of Education, an " old boy" himself, will be the chief guest.
