MELBOURNE, 2nd August. A tender has been accepted for the wr service from Geraldton to Derby. It provides for the beginning of the service on or before 3rd October.
[Sir Joseph Cook, Acting-Prime Minister, announced in May last that tenders had been, invited from private aviation companies in Australia to supply an aerial mail service. It was later stated that the service was to be between Gfiraldton, 290 miles north of Perth, and Derby, which is in the Kimberley district, at the mouth of the Fitzroy Eiv'er. The distance is 1193 miles, and is to be covered in six stages. The service is to be fortnightly, and all pilots and mechanics are required to join the Air Force, and thus provide a continuous patrol.]
