Mr. R. Wedderstoom has returned to Wellington after a, business trip to Australia.

Colonel Meldrum, solicitor, of New Plymouth, has been offered and bag accepted an appointment as Stipendiary Magistrate.

Mi-. Thomas Foot, who was for several years a well-known eawmiller in the Pohangina district, died at Piripiri on Saturday evening, aged 71 years.

Deep regret is expressed in the annual report of the New Zealand Nurses' Memorial Fund at the death of Mr. A. E. Pearce, of Wellington. The late Mr. Pearce "was one of the early lifemembers of th« Fund, "and had been on the committee since the fund was incorporated. He always took a keen interest in the "work, and his influence! and support did much towards placing the Fund on a sure foundation. Lieutenant-Colonel E. H. Northcroft, D.5.0., officer in command of the New Zealand Field/ Artillery, Northern District, will arrive in Wellington on the 4th inst. to attend the second annual reunion of the First Brigade New Zealand Field Artillery, in which he saw considerable service as a battery commander during the late war. LieutenantColonel F. Symon. C.M.G., D.5.0., of the Royal New Zealand Artillery at Christchurch, will also attend the reunion. He was in command of the brigade for the greater part of the time during which it was engaged in the Western European theatre of war.

The death .of Mrs. James Wall, one of tho last of Wellington's old colonists, occurred at her residence, Porirua, on Sunday evening, at the age of 73 years. Mrs. Wall was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Floyd, who arrived in Wellington by the Slane's Castle on Anniversary Day, 1841, and she was born in Wellington on 28th November, 1848, amid the ruins of the great earthquake. She married Mr. James Wall, of Porirua, who, when only two years of age, arrived in Wellington with his parents by the ship Lord William Bentick in 1841. Mr. Wall, who is still hale and hearty, is in his 83rd year. Deceased leaves a family of three sons and one daughter.
