ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM
TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND,
(HI TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
. CHRISTCHURH, 21st July. Mr. F. C. Raphael (chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council) announces that the council, has definitely invited the ,Marylebone Club to send an English amateur team to New Zealand during the coming season. The exceptionally favourable terms - with the Australian States has placed the profit on a satisfactory basis and ensured the financial success of the tour.
The team will commence the matches in New Zealand in the first week in December. Approximately eighteen matches will be played in New Zealand, including three Tests. •' - r ■ Theie has been a little hesitation on the part of Auckland and Otago to join in the financial .guarantees, but in view of the exceptionally favourable terms now offered by' Australia it is thought that the council will receives the fullest support of all associations.' The council has specially asked that the Hon. Lionel Tennyson be included in this team, also two professionals.
