WELLINGTON TEAM

S. K. Siddells (University), aged 24 years, height 6ft lin, weight 14.1; fullback. Commenced football in Wanganui, representing that district during. the season in which Wellington won the Ranfurly Shield from Taranaki; afterwards played in Napier, where he captained High School Old Boys' team; first played in Wellington last season; has always been a full-back, and has represented Wellington and New Zealand University for two seasons.

G. G. Aitkcn (University), aged 23, height sft 9in, weight 12.4; wing threequarter. Commenced football on West Coast, representing Buller when 16 years of age; has been playing in Wellington for five seasons; captained New Zealand University representatives 1920 and 1921; Wellington representative, and North Island and New Zealand representative this year; usually plays as five-eighth or centre three-quarter. P. Markham (Marist), age 29, height 6ftj weight 13.10; centre three-quarter. Originally a St. Patrick's College boy, afterwards playing on West Coast, for which district ht was a representative for two seasons; selected as a South Island representative last season, but did not play; this is his first season in Wellington senior football; usually plays as a five-eighth. i;

E. Ryan (Petone), age 30, height sft 9in, weight 11.5; wing three-quarter. One of Petone's best known players; has represented Wellington at various times since 1912; captain of the Petone team 1920-21; member of New Zealand Army Team in Englund and South' Africa; twice nominated for North Island; usual place, centre three-quarter.. E. Bloberta (Athletic), ago 29, height sft 6in, weight 11.4; five-eighth. Pro bably the best-known present-day footballer in the Dominion; commenced football with the St. James Club, afterwards

going to Athletic; his long list of honours includes New Zealand representative 1913-14-20, North Island representative 1910-11-12-13-14-19-20-21^ Wellington representative _ many ■ times sinco 1910; he has captained irnmerous teams; in big football usually played as halfback. . ■

M. Nicholls (Petone), age 20, height sft9in, weight 11.4; five-eighth. Com mehced football with Petone, and at Wellington College as captain of first fifteen showed much promise; this is hii second season in senior football, to which he was promoted from sixth-class; represented Wellington last year ' and selected as New Zealand representative thie year; usual place, five-eighth. •H. E. Nicholls (Petone), age 21; height sft sin, weight 10.0'; half-back. Learnt his football with fetoue Club, and has developed into, a very fine player; represented Wellington al various times since 1917 ; North- Island representative 1919, and emergency 1921; with his brother Mark he has been chosen to play for New Zealand this season; has always played at half. E. King (Poneke), aged.24, height 6ft, weight '13.4; rover. Has played senior football since 1914, for Poneke, while in Wellington; last season ho represented Marlborough; member of New Zealand Army team which' toured England and South Africa in 1919; Wellington representative 1921, also nominated for North Island team; usually wing-forward, but also a good back.

E. ; Hughes (Poneke), age 36, height sft 7in, weight 12.10; forward (hooker). Has had an' interesting football career since 19b2; has represented Southland', Wellington, South Island, North Island, and New ■Zealand (1907-08), and is in this. year's New Zealand team; captained Southland, and was captain of the Britannia Club for , seven years; since coming to Wellington he has played for Poneke; played with a New Zealand military team in Great Britain; usual place, hooker.

S. Standen (Berhampore), ag« 34, height • sft 9in, weight 12.10; forward (hooker). Formerly pkiyed for Southern and Athletic Clubs, being at one time diptain of the former's senior team; since the war has played for BerhampoTe; a member of the New Zealand Army team in Great .Britain and South Africa;. represented Wellington 1906f--20-2 1; nominated for North Island, 1921; usual, place,' hooker. J. Moffitt (Oriental), age 31, height sft. 11-j-in, weight 15.2; forward (lock). Commenced* football in Wellington playing for the St. James's and Oriental Clubs; while in the South Island represented South Canterbury, and Soutli Island (1909); Wellington representative /since 1910; New Zealand representative, 1920; North Island representative, 1920----2 1; member of New Zealand Army team in Great Britain and. South • Africa; has captained Oriental and St. James's; usual place, lock, but also good support.

T. Price (Petone), age 30, height Oft llin, weight-13.0;'forward (support). Has played continuously for Petone, and has represented Wellington at various time? since 1911; played for a New Zealand military team in Great Britain, 1917; an''all-round forward.'

J. A. Bruce (Athletic), age 32, height 9ft llin, weight 13:3; forward (support). Formerly played for St. James's and City (Auckland), being captain of the latter team in 1912; has represented Wellington, Auckland, North Island, and New Zealand (1913-14);, member of New Zealand Army team in Great Britain and South Africa; "usual place, side or back row. i

S. Shearer (Poneke), age 29, height sft Bin, weight 13.6; .forward (back row). Formerly played for Oriental and Selwyn Clubs; junior representative, 1903----1 0; Wellington senior representative, 1912-13-14-19-20-21; also selected as emergency' for New Zealand" team; played for New Zealand military teams during the war; a utility forward, capable hooker. Arthur Parker (Petono), age 29, height sft lOin, weight 12.10; forward (back row). Learnt football with, the Petone Club; has represented Wellington at times Bince 1913; played in North Island B team before Californian tour; usually a hooker.

"W. Malm (Berhampore), age 28, height sft llin, weight 13.2; emergency forward. Has played for Southern, St. James's, and Berhampore Clubs, being present captain of the latter's senior team; represented Wellington, 1920-21; usual place, wing' forward; also uaefuj as support. '■'„■■ , .' i

F. M. Hanson (University), age 24, height sft 9in, weight 12.10; emergency forward. Learnt football at Wellington College; lias represented New South Wales (1915-16) and New Zealand University .(1920-21); a Wellington B reprepresentative last year; an all-round forward.

From the above particulars it will be observed that five members of the Wellington team—King, Ryan, Bruce, Standen, and Moffitt—have previously played against the South Africans.
