AUSTRALIAN NAVIGATION ACT
THE CARRIAGE OF INTER-STATE
PASSENGERS,
(UNITED PneSS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)
(AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZSALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 19th. July.
Tho Orient Company announces the discontinuance of the carnage of interState passengers on the Australian coast, owing to the impossibility of carrying out tho requirements imposed by the Navigation Act, which are a heavy, handicap to steamers designed for overseas services. The company arrived at the decision reluctantly, because the withdrawal will prejudice tourist, traffic, which their steamers largely created, and also bocause tho 'resultant loss of revenue must cause somo postponement of a reduction iv overseas fares which a future fall in costs might justify.
