LONDON, 12th July. The ' Australian cricket team cdmmenced the match against Scotland at Edinburgh to-day in brilliant weather. Macartney, Oldfield, Gregory, and Armstrong were omitted from the Australian team, and Collins acted a.j captain. Scotland is represented by Knrr,! Sorrie, Batson, Campbell, Stevenson, Fraser, Fergusson, Watt, Sievewright, Mitchell, and Bissett. .'','-. ' .' ■ ■

Collins won the toss, and Mayne accompanied him to the, wickets, to face the bowling of Fergusson and Mitchell. At 32 Mayne was caught by Kerr off Mitchell, and Pellew came in. Collins, gave possible chances when he was 6 and 14, both in the slips, and fellew was dropped off the first ball by Stevenson in the slips. Fifty-three went up for 30 minutes' play, and after 45 minutes had elapsed,' despite changes in the bowling, 80 appeared, of which Collins had made 50.
