(ikiti* muss AweciATieN— c»pmuh.) (AIISIRAUAN • NBTT SSBAMND OWll ASSOCIATION.) (Received Jane 25, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd June. In the House of, Commons there was an exciting debate on a proposal to reduce the salary (£5000) of Dr. Addison, Minister without portfolio, on the ground that the salary was being paid without first consulting the House of Commons. Mr. Lloyd George eulogised Dr. Addisoji's aejriqes, and justified his office on the ground of the great strain upon Ministers, but said that in view of the necessity for economising he offered to confine the office to this session. The vote wag accordingly reduced by £2500, without a division.
[Dr. Addison resigned the portfolio of Health in April, .but remained ;in. the Cabinet without; portfolio. It was reported on 15th June thai, owing to the attitude o£ the "economy . campaigners" towards his salary, he had resigned from the. Cabinet.] ■•,..- ■ ■•• •
