(81 TELEGRAPH. —PRBSS ASSOCIATION.)
OHRISTOHUROH, 24th Juno.
Merchants, generally speaking, iseem satisfied with the business doing in tha past week. ' Business in oats, which wrs fairly brisk a little whilo bade, is now easier. Mwt of what was sent Home was from what the stock merchants hid'on hand. It if. considered that -the prices that lately have been ruling at Home are not too certain to continue, in consequence of which merchants avn inclined to proceed cautiously. Very little tradte was Tjeing done'in chaff until recently. Some; good parcels of grass seed have been disposed. of. At presont, howevef, tho price's asked for appear to be a bit high for the demand, and because of tnis buyers are taking up a n indifferent attitude. Linseedl, which was fetching highi prices a little time ago, has gone off again. Some sold at £20 f.o.b. Sydney, as this was the only outlet for big lots of linseed. The trade in this line went off when orders from Australia ceased to come in. Tho present rate is from 513 to £15. A lot of potatoes have been sent to the North Island recently, as a result of which there has been quite a stir among local' merchants. Farmers, however, are not offering much, preferring to hang on for a month or two.
