The New York' Times states that the largest and most spectacular raid conducted by Federal prohibition agents in the East took placo in March in the Bronx, when seven officials raided a garage at 966, .Univereity-uvenue, and seized whisky valued at more than £100,000 wholesale and said to be worth £200,000 at present boot-legging prices.
New York city employment offices report a marked increase in the number of applicants for positions in domestic service, but women for general housework are. still "nearly impossible to find." A radical change in the requirements o£ such employment seems to be "indicated."
